Made by Club F.I.N.
Club Fitness and Integration Through Nature (F.I.N.) is Heartland Forest’s structured and supported day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities or acquired brain injuries.
Club F.I.N.’s primary goals are to promote social interaction and skill development through group activities. One of the daily activities Club F.I.N. members participate in is the creation of handmade cards and small woodshop projects.
All proceeds of items made by Club F.I.N. goes back into Heartland Forest’s programming!
Made by the Work Experience Program
Heartland Forest runs a structured goal-oriented Work Experience Program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Work Experience program offer’s a creative and safe environment and works towards increasing equitable access to participation in community life and providing workplace opportunities.
When Heartland’s Work Experience Program is given the opportunity to work in the Woodshop they learn valuable and transferable skills that will help them with their future goals. When possible, the Work Experience Program will put the finishing touches on projects made by Heartland’s Woodshop staff and volunteers, they will also create projects of their own to help contribute to the sustainability of Heartland’s programming!
Made by Heartland’s Volunteers
Heartland Forest has an amazing team of volunteers that have dedicated so much of their time in Heartland’s woodshop! Like everyone at Heartland our volunteers share a passion for inclusion and community engagement for people of all ages and abilities.
Our Woodshop volunteers make these programs happen! They have donated their time, skills and materials to see these programs become successful. Our Woodshop volunteers also contribute by helping create new pieces to be sold in our Nature Shop to contribute to Heartland’s programming.
Made by Heartland’s Woodshop
Heartland Forest’s Woodshop provides programming for Brain Injury Community Re-entry, young adults with autism, one-on-one rehabilitation sessions for adults with acquired brain injury and group sessions for adults from Community Living.
Our Woodshop staff hold strong values in increasing opportunities and skills of people of all ages and abilities. When Heartland’s Woodshop staff are not busy working with one of the many programs associated with our Woodshop they produce beautiful pieces to be sold in our Nature Store, and all proceeds go back into Heartland’s programming.
