Please gather for sign-in and sign-out at the park-side Coyote Den Pavilion.

Participants should be present at Heartland 15 minutes prior to session start.

Bush Craft – February 7

Be prepared for winter with winter survival skills! Learn to snowshoe (weather permitting), build a shelter, and fire safety!

Tree Identification – February 21

Learn to identify some of our common tree species even without using the leaves!    Explore the lifecycle of our deciduous trees and the processes behind maple syrup.

The Secret Lives of Salamanders – March 7

Explore our ponds and investigate the vernal pool community.  Follow the lifecycle of these secretive creatures!

Busy Birds and Bird Nests – March 21

Brilliant Bird anatomy- adaptations for flight.  Birding by binoculars. Make/decorate your own birdhouse to bring home!

Fish – April 4

Explore the ponds to identify some of the fish you may see and their lifecycle, the food they eat, who their predators are and how they survived during the winter months! End the program roasting marshmallows around the fire!

*Ages 4-5 parent/guardian & child program will run as a play and learn family adventure for child and guardian. Parent/guardian supervision is required.
