Damsels and Dragons – September 13

Become a citizen scientist and participate in a dragonfly and damselfly inventory at Heartland Forest! Learn about flight and create your own dragonfly flyer to take home.

Fascinating Fungi – September 27

Discover the hidden world of fungi including mushrooms! Learn why they aren’t actually plants and what role they play in the environment and in our lives. Create a mushroom print to take home.

Life at the Lookout – October 11

Explore wetland, meadow and forest habitat from a birds eye view! Learn about forest and meadow communities and experiment with binoculars from our observation tower. Collect and observe live invertebrates at the Wetland Restoration area.

Bats Owls and Spiders – October 25

Discover real life facts about these fascinating creatures and how we benefit from them. Enjoy a guided hike to learn how these and other animals are at home in our forest!

Participants should be present at Heartland 15 minutes prior to session start.
