Forest School Educator Job Description

The Forest School Educator will join our team in facilitating our Nature School program on Wednesdays. The program runs 9 – 4 with early and late care an hour before and after. This is a play-based, outdoor, all-weather program for children ages 4-6. We maintain a 1:6 educator to student ratio.  Our program is child-led and follows an emergent curriculum based on the seasons, the children’s interests and the provocations found in nature following Forest School Canada’s guidelines. More information on Heartland Forest and our program can be found on our website.  Part time Educators may also be asked to participate in delivery of our environmental education programs for visiting schools, and special events.

Communications Coordinator Job Description

The Communications Coordinator is a permanent part-time position encompassing all communication activities related to Heartland’s programs, signature events, third party events, special projects, fundraising initiatives and memorial programs.

This role requires creativity, flexibility and the ability to develop high quality communications, including materials and messages in order to increase support for the charity and its cause. You will also help promote legacy and in-memoriam giving, sponsorship packages and corporate fundraising.

Works with Forest Discovery team in organizing, planning and administering school trips, community bookings and Summer Adventure Camp at Heartland Forest Nature Experience.  Provides a warm and friendly environment by greeting and engaging with students/campers throughout the scheduled activities. Relates professionally and with respect to children, youth, parents, caregivers and the staff teams. Heartland Forest Summer Adventure Camp runs outdoors rain or shine in a forested area promoting outdoor experiential environmental education and physical fitness.
