Amidst the celebration of Tender Wishes' Pumpkinfest, Heartland Forest dedicated and opened its latest addition to the 93 acre forest facility. With a 122 foot ramp which rises 3/4 inch per foot from the forest trail we know of no other building of its type in Ontario or Canada which uses the Universal Access Concept allowing those with mobility challenges to enjoy the euphoria of climbing to a treehouse off the ground.
Built with the Oak and Ash gleaned, sawed and milled on a portable saw mill on the property it took some 3 weeks to erect. Not quite finished with the shutters and doors still to be added, the complete building was erected by volunteers. As a point of note ... there are over 1000 spindles in the railing alone.
We acknowledge the professional ability of all our volunteers. The hours and energy you have spent helping us achieve our Treehouse Goal has been tremendous.
