Each year Heartland Forest hosts Family Style Events and encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the facilities.
Winter Fest - February 14th, 2010
Come out for some outdoor fun this Valentine’s Day form 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.! There will be tons of exciting tours, learning stations, games and arts and crafts. We’ll also have an open fore for roasting marshmallows along with refreshments and snacks. Admission is free, as always donations welcomed.
Astronomy Stargazing – March 20th, 2010
All residents and visitors to the Niagara region are invited to attend and observe the night sky through telescopes. Learn the names of the bright stars and constellations, and observe the polar ice caps on Planet Mars. There will also be an "Astronomy AV Presentation." Once the presentation has concluded, members of the local Astronomy Club, RASC Niagara Centre, will have their telescopes set up for everyone to look through. The event starts at sunset (around 6:15p.m.), Admission is free, Everyone welcome.
Easter Sunrise Celebration – April 4th , 2010
Don’t feel like being indoors for church on Easter Sunday? Well come out and enjoy our Easter Sunrise Service. The service will start at 7:30a.m. Sunday April 4th, 2010 weather permitting. In the event of bad weather the service will be held over until Monday April 5th, 2010. Following the service there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the kids!
Frog Fest – May 1st, 2010
Do you love frogs? Wish you knew more about them? Come out and have fun with many of our frog filled activities! There’s plenty of other reptile and amphibian inspired activities, a guided tour of the forest, a demonstration of pond wildlife, digging for bugs and much much more! Admission $2.00, refreshments available.
Photography Scavenger Hunt – June 26th, 2010
As if we really need to make an excuse for you to come to Heartland Forest just to take pictures, although we did! We will set up numerous stations of which you will either have to figure out the riddle and take a picture of it or dig deep into the brain to answer the questions. Once you got the answer take a picture of it! Last year this was a huge hit with the families or groups of young children. There will also be other activities and crafts along with refreshments from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Admission $2.00.
Hoe Down – September 18th, 2010
Dust off those cowboy boots, look for the hat and reach for that smile! This event will blow your socks off! Horseback riding, archery, tours, hay rides, scavenger hunts, a small petting zoo, face painting, country music, exhibitors, displays, an antique car show, prizes for best adult and child western costume, silent auction, amazing food at the country canteen and many other games and activities for all ages! Starting at 1:00pm(Rain or Shine) No cowboy or cowgirl would want to miss this! Admission is free, Donations gratefully accepted.
Barrier Free Pumpkin Fest - October 23rd, 2010
Includes pumpkin carving, live animals, music, entertainers, mascots, BBQ, hayride, trail of treats, decorate your own goodie bag, crafts, family photo shoot and much more! Wear your Halloween Costume and come out for this great afternoon of fun from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Admission is free, Donations gratefully accepted.
Public Pumpkin Fest - October 24th through the 29th, 2010
An event for the public to come out for hay rides, to see Freddy the frog, refreshments, crafts, treats and more. This will be going on the whole week. Schools or large groups are asked to book during this week.Admission is free, as always donations welcomed.
Haunted Night – October 29th & 30th, 2010
Heartland Forest dares you and all your little friends to come out and join us for a walk in the Haunted Forest! You could only imagine what is going to happen this day! Tours start at 7:20pm for the young daring ones. After that the tours run every 20 minutes, last tour will leave at 8:40pm! (It’s a must come out event) Admission $3.00, refreshments available.
Facilities Readily Available: Fishing Pond, 2.5 Km Trails, a large tree house offering a 360o panoramic view of the forest! Bring sport supplies if you wish to play on the large grassy field and best for last our playground for the kids to engage in recreations. .
